Accessibility statement – ArianeGroup

In compliance with article 47 of law No. 2005-102 of 11 February 2005, ArianeGroup undertakes to make its websites, intranets, extranets and software packages (as well as its mobile applications and digital urban equipment) accessible.

 

ArianeGroup will therefore implement the following strategy and measures: multiannual accessibility framework for 2026-2028 and action plan for 2026.

Compliance status

Accessibility: partial compliance

https://www.ariane.group/ is partially compliant with the General Accessibility Improvement Framework standard (RGAA), due to non-conformities and exemptions listed below.

 

 

Test results

The compliance audit conducted by Apsulis showed that 47% of criteria from RGAA version 4.1.2 are observed.

 

 

Non-accessible content

Non-conformities

  • Images: most images do not have alternative text, and decorative icons are not hidden from screen readers (criteria 1.1, 1.2).
  • Colours: certain texts (dates and card categories, light blue wording, inactive filters, titles and menus displayed on photos) have insufficient contrast; search fields lack visible borders (3.2, 3.3).
  • Multimedia: videos lack transcriptions, sub-titles and audio descriptions (4.1, 4.3, 4.5).
  • Tables: data tables lack titles and declared headers (5.4, 5.6, 5.7).
  • Links: certain links are nonexplicit when out of context, particularly the logo link, and the repetitive “Learn more” and “Read more” links (6.1).
  • Scripts: drop-down menus, search bar, filters and carousels fail to restore their previous state for assistive technologies and keyboard navigation; on the page for Ariane 6, certain sections are only accessible after scroll-driven animation; unannounced dynamically loaded results (7.1, 7.3, 7.5).
  • Mandatory elements: non-valid HTML code, certain irrelevant page titles, unannounced language changes, tags used for presentations (8.2, 8.6, 8.7, 8.9).
  • Structuring information: inconsistent title hierarchy on several pages, plaintext lists and quotes, footers lacking on certain pages (9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4).
  • Presenting information: presentational attributes within the code, titles cannot be enlarged 200%, non-visible keyboard focus in certain fields, access to hidden content with keyboard, horizontal scrollbar at a 320px width on certain pages, non-redefinable text spacing, submenus cannot be closed via keyboard (10.1, 10.4, 10.7, 10.8, 10.11, 10.12, 10.13).
  • Forms: unlabelled news search field; irrelevant wording on several buttons (11.1, 11.9).
  • Navigation: incomplete, lack of skip links, inconsistent tabulation order, sitemap inaccessibility from certain pages (12.3, 12.4, 12.7, 12.8).
  • Consulting documents: links open a new tab without warning, non-accessible downloadable PDF files, uncontrollably looping animated pop-ups (13.2, 13.3, 13.8).

 

Exemption for disproportionate burden

The following content concerns third-party graphic components (WebGL, Mapbox). Achieving compliance would require a revamp disproportionate to the expected gain. There is an alternative for each of the following:

  • Interactive 3D model of Ariane 6 launcher (page about Ariane 6): model rotation can only be done using cursor and it is not restored to screen readers. Alternative: seven buttons provide access, via a keyboard or screen reader, to viewer panes with key figures for each launcher part.
  • Interactive map of sites (Sites page): map markers cannot be used with a keyboard and are not restored to screen readers. Alternative: display of viewer panes with written content about each site: buttons help users navigate the carousel.
  • Animated WebGL backgrounds (headers on homepage and several pages, page footers): such decorative animations cannot be paused. They do not provide any information.

 

Content not subject to accessibility obligations

  • Office data files published prior to 23 September 2018
  • Pre-recorded videos published prior to 23 September 2020
  • Third-party content that is not funded or developed by ArianeGroup; content not controlled by ArianeGroup (e-shop hosted by an outside provider)

The current statement was drafted on 16 September 2024. It was updated on 25 September 2026.
